As April comes to a close, it’s hard to believe that this is the last month of school in my program. While I’m excited to finish the semester strong and begin working on my PA school applications, I can’t help but feel a bit nostalgic. This program has truly shaped me both in an academic way and a personal way, and as much as I’m ready for the next step, it’s bittersweet to see it all coming to an end. I remember our professor saying back in August when we first started that this year is going to fly by, and it truly did!
I’ve genuinely enjoyed everything I’ve learned throughout the year, and I truly believe that the knowledge I’ve gained will not only prepare me for PA school but also support me in becoming a more thoughtful and informed provider. From our in-depth coursework to our case based learning modules, each module made me learn something valuable and or added to my already prior knowledge.
This month has been especially packed with presentations—seven this semester to be exact! While I still get nervous before presenting, I’ve noticed that my skills have definitely improved. I feel more confident discussing complex topics clearly and efficiently, and that growth is something I’m really proud of.
It was definitely a smart move to get all of my volunteer hours completed earlier in the semester. With that out of the way, I’ve been able to spend April fully focused on wrapping up my presentations and preparing for finals without the added pressure of meeting extracurricular deadlines.
Academically, we’re down to our last finals. We already completed our Medical Pharmacology final, and honestly, I found it more challenging than our previous exams in that course. Now, all eyes are on the cellular control mechanisms' final. It’s definitely the one I’m most worried about, but I’ve been studying consistently since the beginning of April. That steady preparation has helped build my confidence, and I’m hopeful that it’ll pay off.
As I wrap up this final month, I’m feeling all the emotions! Here’s to finishing strong and embracing whatever comes next!
